Right Paper: A Display Font That Elevates Digital Design

I was working on a new boutique website for a handmade candle brand when I stumbled upon Right Paper. The client wanted something that felt warm, inviting, and slightly rustic—something that would make their product stand out in a sea of generic shop fronts. As I explored font options, Right Paper caught my eye with its thick-lettered, cool display style. It wasn’t just a font; it was a mood.

Right Paper is a display font that brings a sense of simplicity with a strong visual punch. Its bold strokes and clean lines give it a modern yet approachable feel, making it perfect for digital branding that needs to be both stylish and readable. When I first tested it in the hero section of the site, it immediately made the headline pop against the soft background image of a candlelit room. It didn’t scream at the viewer—it whispered with confidence.

A Hero Section That Feels Like Home

One of the first places I used Right Paper was in the hero section of the website. The goal was to create a welcoming message that aligned with the brand’s cozy, handcrafted vibe. I paired it with a clean sans serif font for the supporting text, which helped maintain balance without overshadowing the main title. On mobile screens, the font scaled well, maintaining its legibility even at smaller sizes. This was crucial because the site needed to look great on all devices.

Another instance where Right Paper shined was in the call-to-action area. The button text “Shop Now” was styled with this font, adding a touch of personality to an otherwise standard CTA. It created a subtle but effective contrast against the neutral background, encouraging visitors to take action without feeling overwhelmed.

Headlines That Capture Attention

When designing landing pages or blog headers, the right font can make all the difference. Right Paper worked beautifully as a heading for sections like “Our Story” and “Featured Products.” Its strong visual effect helped draw attention to key content without distracting from the overall layout. I found that using it sparingly—like in headlines rather than body copy—kept the design clean and professional.

On a course sales page I was redesigning, I used Right Paper for the main title, “Create Your Own Candle Collection,” and it instantly gave the page a more creative and engaging tone. It felt like the kind of font you’d see on a beautifully designed packaging label, which was exactly the aesthetic the client wanted.

Responsive Layouts and Readability

As a web designer, I always consider how a font will perform across different screen sizes. Right Paper handled responsive layouts well, especially when used in conjunction with proper line spacing and letter spacing adjustments. For small buttons or navigation links, I avoided using it due to its decorative nature, but for larger elements like banners or featured products, it added a nice touch of character.

Testing it over dark backgrounds was another consideration. While it looked stunning against light tones, I found that subtle shadows or outlines helped it stand out more on darker sections of the site. This ensured that the font remained legible and visually appealing regardless of the background.

Font Pairing for a Balanced Look

One of the most important aspects of using a display font like Right Paper is knowing how to pair it with other fonts. In this case, I chose a simple sans serif font for body copy, which provided a good contrast and maintained readability. For a more editorial feel, I experimented with pairing it with a clean serif font, which gave the site a slightly more traditional and elegant appearance.

It’s also worth noting that Right Paper works well with script or handwritten fonts for accents or decorative elements. However, I recommend using these sparingly to avoid overwhelming the design. The key is to let Right Paper be the star while still keeping the rest of the typography cohesive and functional.

What to Avoid with Right Paper

While Right Paper is excellent for display purposes, it may not be the best choice for long paragraphs of text or small navigation elements. Its decorative nature can reduce readability in dense blocks of content, so I suggest reserving it for headlines, titles, and short phrases. Additionally, if your design requires strict accessibility standards, ensure that the font has sufficient contrast and is easy to read for all users.

Before using Right Paper on any live project, I always check for included styles, weights, and file formats. It’s important to confirm that the font supports multilingual characters and that you have the appropriate commercial license if you’re planning to use it on client projects or online stores.

Overall, Right Paper has become a go-to font for me in digital design. Whether it’s for a boutique website, a course landing page, or a portfolio header, it consistently delivers a strong visual impact without sacrificing usability. It’s the kind of font that makes your design feel intentional and thoughtful—just like the work you put into your projects.
